Mosaic Tiles/Supplies
Mosaics is one of the oldest art forms known to man and can be traced back over 2,000 years. The idea of combining classic mosaics and stained glass is an easy connection to make. Many mosaic pieces by well known stained glass artists like Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Comfort Tiffany have been in existance since the early 1900's.
To give you an idea of what you can do with stained glass mosaics, above are three vases by Tom Snyder, Charlotte, NC. We took a class from him recently and was impressed with his techniques that make projects like these so easy. To enlarge, click on the image.
As a stained glass supplier, we think of glass mosaics in four differents ways: (1)First, in a traditional mosaic sense except stained glass is used as the basic building material . (2)Then there are the stepping stones. These are a glass mosaic where stained glass, most typically, is either embedded or glued to cement. (3)Lastly, there is the traditional method of mosaics involving the use of glass tiles.
Below are links to each of these glass mosaics techniques and supplies.
